Description
MV Hamnavoe was constructed in 2002 at Aker Finyards in Finland and was designed to take account of the special demands of the Pentland Firth. She entered service on 23rd April 2003. She is 112m long and can carry 600 passengers plus cars and freight. The car deck has 350m (95 cars) of space.
MV Hamnavoe’s top speed is 19.3 knots and she has 12 cabins. She travels the equivalent of almost 3½ trips round the world each year. Hamnavoe is the old Norse name for Stromness, which means 'Home Port' or 'Safe Haven'.
